Connection and adjustment
QR-code for connection
Click on the + button ("Add Device") in top right corner when you're in the main screen of the selected home-ownership.
Click on the button ("Scan") in top right corner when you're in the connection menu and scan this QR-code.
The app may request to use your smartphone's camera for scanning.
Device connection in EZ mode
  • The Wi-Fi network frequency must be 2.4 GHz, the network name and password must contain only numbers and Latin letters (the maximum length of the network name and password is 32 characters). If there are repeaters, amplifiers or several distributing devices in the room in the signal reception area, it is recommended to make the names of the networks different from each other and connect the device to the nearest access point.
To connect the device, follow the steps below:
1. Run the Tuya/Smart Life App and log in (register if you haven't already).
2. Select or create a house (home-ownership) to which you want to add a new device.
3. Click on the +
button ("Add Device") in top right corner when you're in the main screen of the selected home-ownership.
4. Click on the button ("Scan") in top right corner when you're in the connection menu.
5. Scan the QR-code by your smartphone. You can find QR-code in the instruction for the module (system).
6. Follow instructions on the screen of your smartphone to connect the device.
7. In some cases you can see the popup window with the text "Select the status of the indicator light or hear the beep". If you're trying to connect the device in EZ mode select "Blink Quickly".

You can turn ON the EZ mode by triple press on the button, that is on the Tuya additional module or by pressing and holding buttons 1 and 2 more than 5 secs (if you have a system with integrated Tuya in motherboard).

  • After completing the setup, you will be taken to the main screen of the home-ownership, where the device you connected will be added to the "Heat" tab, and the connection with the device will be established within a few minutes.
  • Sometimes after adding the device, its settings and controls may be unavailable for several minutes. During this time, the firmware is updated, you need to wait for a while.
  • For simultaneous control of the device by several users, use the function of inviting the user to the house in the settings.
Device connection in AP mode

8. In some cases you can see the popup window with the text "Select the status of the indicator light or hear the beep". If you're trying to connect the device in AP mode select "Blink Slowly".

You can turn ON the AP mode by double press on the button, that is on the Tuya additional module.
Or you can turn it ON by pressing and holding button 2 more than 3 secs, after that press and hold buttons 1 and 2 more than 5 secs (if you have a system with integrated Tuya in motherboard).

  • After completing the setup, you will be taken to the main screen of the home-ownership, where the device you connected will be added to the "Water" tab, and the connection with the device will be established within a few minutes .
  • Sometimes after adding the device, its settings and controls may be unavailable for several minutes. During this time, the firmware is updated, you need to wait for a while .
  • For simultaneous control of the device by several users, use the function of inviting the user to the house in the settings.
Voice assistants
If you want to use voice assistants like Siri, Google or Yandex you need to link your Tuya/SmartLife account to the assistant application. After linking you will have a possibility to add new smart devices. You can find detailed manual in Tuya/SmartLife application (About device > Click logo) and in assistant's app.
Google and Yandex have native support for our devices. Some functions may not available due to system or device restrictions.
Siri is partially supported by making commands threw the Tuya app. You must have official Apple Commands application been installed.
Smart Watch functionality depends on availability of Tuya/SmartLife app or Apple Commands for Watch OS.
The App requests access to location data
The enabled location feature is only needed to connect devices to the Tuya Cloud Platform. Connecting devices without this permission is not possible or may cause errors due to a number of technical limitations of the smartphone OS.
After connection and initial configuration, the permission to use geolocation can be revoked.
FAQ and detailed instructions
Entering the AP mode and resetting settings
Resetting system settings of the main module:
1. Press and hold the ▌▌ button for more than 3 seconds until a double beep sounds
2. Press and hold the button for more than 3 seconds until a triple beep sounds
3. After performing the above manipulations, the device will reset and reboot
- The device is in the AP mode, the control module and the expansion slots settings are reset to default values

Resetting system settings of the Tuya/SmartLife:
1. Open the desired device in the mobile application.
2. Open the device settings (on the main screen of the application, in the upper right corner there is an icon ✎
3. Select "Remove device" and "Disconnect and delete all data".
4. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the operation successfully.

  • After resetting and rebooting, the Wi-Fi connection as well as sensors and wireless modules connection must be done again, according to the instructions .
  • Before setting up and reconnecting, you must delete the control device from your App or on the site .
  • In some cases, the module may not beep when the button is pressed and not turn ON the LED indication (in this case, you need to restore the software; the procedure is described in the "Troubleshooting" section)
Expansion modules connection
Attention!
The expansion modules must be installed only on a switched OFF and completely de-energized control module.
Otherwise, the slots/control module may be damaged and fail, resulting in the loss of free warranty service.

The RS-485 expansion module is used for integration into automated control systems supporting the MODBUS RTU protocol. Data rates from 1200 bps to 921600 bps without parity, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit are supported. The data rate is initially set to 9600 bps. The register memory map is presented in Appendix A (to the Technical Certificate / Operation Manual) and is available here (RU).

The meter connection module is designed for remote water meters reading. The readings are stored in the non-volatile memory of the expansion module. Up to 2 meters can be connected to one expansion module. The module supports work with meters with an output according to the NAMUR standard (configurable via the application). The expansion module is configured using mobile application. The meter readings are updated every 10 minutes.

The radio (wireless) sensor connection module is designed to establish connection with wireless water leakage sensors. Up to 50 wireless sensors can be connected via the radio module.
Valves connection
    • The maximum total current of all devices connected directly to the control module should not exceed 6A
    • The valves are connected to the Valve 1 and Valve 2 connectors, and the sensors to the Line 1, Line 2, etc. connectors. When connecting more devices to one connector (for example, two or three valves must be connected to the Valve 1 connector) the purpose (and, as a rule, the color) of the wires coming to one terminal must be the same, the connection must be parallel. For example, two "Neptun PROFI 12V 3/4" valves are connected to the Valve 1 connector: the red "open" wire from each valve is connected to one "open" terminal of the Valve 1 connector .
    • 4 valves can be connected directly to the control module, provided that you use the power supply unit that is included in the scope of delivery or of similar characteristics.
    • It is recommended to connect the valves included in the scope of delivery, or additional valves available through the link
    • When installing and connecting third-party shut-off valves, it is important to understand that fixing the position of the valve by means of an electric current is unacceptable. The control unit removes the voltage from the valve 4 minutes after the limit switch responds .
    Metering devices connection
    The control module enables connection of any pulse water meters which provide:
    • the ability to work in pulse mode
    • pulse scaling factor 1 /10/100 litre/pulse
    • or support interface NAMUR
    For correct connection, please refer to the Technical Certificate of the connected metering device and the Operation Manual (Technical Certificate) of the control module. The color and purpose of the wires may vary depending on the manufacturer.
    The metering devices are connected to the meter connection slot.
    Power supply and load

    A non-standard way to connect wired sensors
    In some cases, by mistake, a 2-core wire for wired sensors connection may be laid, and there is no opportunity to lay a new connection line.
    To connect wired sensors to a 2-core extension wire, connect both YELLOW and RED wires of the sensor via 1.5kΩ resistance to the core that leads to the SIGNAL terminal on the control module. The GREEN wire must be connected to the COMMON terminal.
    This connection method is an alternative. We strongly recommend that you follow the instructions of the device's Technical Certificate and User Manual.
    Extension of connecting wires
    • Cable for wired sensors (типа SW005, SW007) can be lenthened up to 100 м by wire FTP2 CAT5 (or similar)
    • Cable for counters can be lenthened up to 10 м by wire FTP2 CAT5
    • Cable for valves (Neptun Profi etc.) can be lenthened up to 50 м by wire 4x0,5mm2 (or similar)
    Valves connection (number expansion) unit connection diagram
    * the valve connection unit can be supplied with different supply voltage: 12-220V AC, max 16A and 6-36V DC, max 8A. The power supply parameters depend on the connected valves and are regulated by an additional power source (to be purchased separately). All connected valves must have the same supply parameters. The connected valves operate in the same way as if they would connected to the Valve 1 contacts of the control module in parallel.
    The maximum number of connected valves is calculated based on the total consuming current: for example, 16 220V valves each consuming 1A or 30 220V valves each consuming 0.5 A.
    "Button" and "Dry contact" mode
    It is possible to connect the Neptune Smart control module to third-party smart home systems, using the sensor lines as the "Remote control" input:
    - the sensor line is reassigned to the button mode in the mobile App
    - a non locking button is connected to the desired line to the SIGNAL and COMMON terminals

    When connecting the button, it should be taken into account that when the valve status is changed from the module or application, the Remote control input is blocked until the status is restored / reset. The maximum priority on the control module has the Alarm / Leakage status - you can open the valves and reset the alarm only directly on the module itself.     The control module also has a "dry contact" (changeover relay). In the event of an Alarm / Leakage, the relay changes its position (normally open contact closes relative to the common, normally closed opens). Thus, it becomes possible to turn ON or OFF additional equipment in the event of an Alarm / Leakage.

    When the module controls two areas, the application provides a possibility to assign the button or relay to a definite area (the first, second or both at the same time).
    Troubleshooting
    What to do if the device has been connected, but "not found in the network/offline"?
    • If the device has been added to the application, but after connecting and waiting, the information "Module not found in the network" is displayed, first of all, you need to make sure that the device is connected to the Wi-Fi network (the corresponding indication is provided in the User Manual), and that the distributing device (router / access point) has an Internet connection (sites can be opened).
    • The most common reason is the closed ports 6350, 1883, 8883. On some operators' equipment (Router or Access Point) and / or when configuring this equipment by the provider (operator), the port settings may be changed.
    • If the ports are already open, then you need to perform their forced forwarding.
    • In the event that the device still does not connect to the Internet, does not update, and after waiting, the application displays the message " Module is not found in the network ", it is recommended to additionally make sure that the network parameters are set correctly, all the above steps for setting up and connecting performed properly.
    What should I do if I change my WiFi settings or replace my router?
    • When changing the settings (name and / or password of Wi-Fi), when replacing a router (or a similar device that distributes the network), it is necessary to reconnect the control module according to the instructions.
    • When the control module is reconnected, the statistics data, event log and other settings are saved. Reconfiguration is not required.
      Networking. FAQ
      Q: I can't establish WiFi network connection with the device
      A: Check if the entered password is correct to connect to the WiFi network of the device. It is also possible that another nearby smartphone or tablet has automatically connected to the device. If after checking the problem is not resolved, try restarting your device. You can also contact the support service.
      Q: The device does not find the network when operating in the AP mode
      A: Make sure the device is in the AP mode. If it is so, switch the device to the EZ mode and then back to the AP. Or restart your device. If the problem persists, please contact the support service.
      Q: The device does not connect to the WiFi network after receiving the WiFi settings
      A: Make sure that the network name and password have been entered correctly (you can check this in the home ownership settings "WiFi network settings"). If the WiFi settings were incorrect, you need to delete the network and add the device again. Check if devices have access to the Internet (see Checking open outgoing ports). You can also reset the device settings (see "How do I reset all module settings to their default values?") You can also contact the support service.
      Q: The device does not appear on the network after being added
      A: Make sure the device is turned ON and check your internet connection. It may take a few minutes for the settings to be applied after adding the device. If the device remains to be inactive, try removing it and adding it again. You can also contact the support service.
      Q: There are problems with the device WiFi networking
      A: Make sure your WiFi router is turned ON, working properly, and the device is within its coverage. Check if the WiFi settings are correct (you can check this in the home ownership settings "WiFi network settings"). Try restarting your device. You can also reset device settings (see "How do I reset all module settings to their default values?"). If the problem persists, please contact the support service.
      Networking. Troubleshooting
      • Before connecting, in the phone settings, you need to check that the application has been granted permissions to use geolocation and search for devices on the local network.
      • If you have an iOS device, then in the phone settings, after connecting to the device network, you need to enter the settings of this network and disable the "Private address" function. Continue setting after reconnecting.
      • Make sure your device is connected to a WiFi router and the WiFi router is connected to the Internet.
      • Check the connection status on your device (corresponding indication on the device).
      • Check for internet availability on your WiFi router. From any device connected to the WiFi router, try to open an Internet site, for example, www.google.com.
      • If possible, go to the control panel of your WiFi router from your computer. Check the WiFi network client list and DHCP server client list. There should be an entry with the MAC address of your device (see item 1).
      • If possible, check if the ports 6350, 1883, 8883, 1884 are open. On some operators' equipment (Router or Access Point) and / or when configuring this equipment, the provider may change the port setting.
      • If the ports are already open, you must perform a forced forwarding.
      If you have completed all the steps and cannot connect, do the following:
      • Remove the device from the Tuya Smart App
      • Reset the device to factory settings, at that the device will enter the AP (Access Point) mode
      • In the Tuya Smart App, carefully check your WiFi network settings, including the specified password
      • Re-add the device to the Tuya Cloud Platform
      If all of the above items are completed, and you still cannot connect, please write a letter to the technical support service.
        ! How to recover the device firmware
        • To avoid failures, we recommend using the power supply unit included into the scope of delivery

        • 1. Completely de-energize the control module for 2-3 minutes, disconnect the power supply unit from the module
        • 2. Press and hold the ▌button
        • 3. Without releasing the ▌button, connect the power supply unit to the control module
        • 4. Without releasing the ▌ button, wait for the indication on the control module
        • 5. Release the button and wait for about a minute. It is not recommended to turn OFF the device during the update process.
        • 6. Before or after the update procedure, it is recommended to delete the device from the application (if it was added), reset the settings to default values and reconnect it according to the instructions on this site or in the Operation Manual.

        This procedure doesn't recover stock Tuya's firmware, only module's motherboard.
